Supply continuity

Will the same laptop still be available next year?

Repeat orders need a supply plan. We record the approved configuration and review the expected supply window for your chosen model, quantity and order schedule. Availability, any last-order date and the handling of component changes must be confirmed in writing for your programme.

A distributor's risk is not the first order. It is the second one.

The first order is a project. The second order is a business: you have stock in a market, listings that carry a specific specification, a support desk that knows one machine, and customers who expect to reorder. If the platform shifts underneath you, every one of those becomes work - new photographs, new specification sheets, a new support script, and a conversation with buyers who wanted the model they already approved.

Plan configuration stability before the first order.

That means recording the parts that matter to your deployment and agreeing how proposed changes are reviewed before a repeat order is approved.

What to record for repeat orders

These three areas form the reference for a repeat order. The available supply window depends on the model and components; there is no blanket 24-month guarantee across all platforms.

  • Mainboard and PCB revisionRecord the approved board revisionRecord the board and PCB revision, drivers and image reference. A proposed substitution needs compatibility review and your approval before it is included in the order.
  • Exterior and toolingCheck enclosure, colour and port layoutCompare the repeat-order enclosure and port layout with the approved sample. Check whether photographs, listing artwork and packaging need updating if anything changes.
  • BIOS and firmware baselineRecord the baseline and review updatesKeep a record of the approved BIOS and settings. Security or compatibility updates may be necessary; review their impact on imaging and support before deployment.

What can still move

Branding and market options can be reviewed for each order, subject to model support, quantity, cost and sample approval. Keyboard, panel, memory, storage and charger changes can affect compatibility or documentation and may need revalidation.

  • Branding: logo, boot image, wallpaper, nameplate, packaging artwork
  • Market localisation: keyboard layout and language, display language, plug and charger type
  • Supported configuration options: memory, storage and panel options, with compatibility and availability checked for the selected model
  • Documentation and compliance set for the destination market
  • Order quantity: standard custom programmes generally start at 1,000 units per model. A batch of around 100 units is subject to review of stock, capacity and the requested customisation; repeat-order terms are quoted separately.

What we confirm with you before you commit

We would rather you knew the boundaries up front than discovered them at the third order. Before you place the first order, these are settled in writing.

  • The production windowThe expected model-specific supply window and any agreed stock or component arrangements, recorded in the quotation or programme agreement.
  • The last-order dateAny confirmed final-order deadline and the availability conditions that apply. A forecast alone does not reserve components or stock.
  • What carries overWhich parts, documentation and packaging elements remain valid if the platform is eventually replaced.
  • How the notice worksWho receives a proposed component-change or discontinuation notice, the agreed notice process, and what requires your approval.

How a repeat order actually runs

The approved specification and sample provide a starting point. Each repeat order still needs an availability check, a review of any changes and a confirmed schedule.

  • STEP 1ConfirmYou state the quantity and the delivery market. We confirm availability against the agreed window.
  • STEP 2Proforma invoiceCommercial terms, unit price and schedule are confirmed in writing before production is booked.
  • STEP 3ProductionThe production lead time is quoted after quantity, component availability, customisation and approval requirements are confirmed.
  • STEP 4ShipmentStandard China-stock configurations may dispatch in 2-3 business days after stock and order confirmation. Custom production follows its quoted schedule. Overseas-stock availability, shipping service and delivery time depend on the model and delivery address.

The approved sample remains the reference. A component, firmware or branding change may require a new sample or validation; the cost and timing are confirmed for that order.

If a platform is eventually replaced

Platforms are not replaced on a whim, but no platform is built forever. What matters is that the end is planned rather than discovered.

  • Agree the discontinuation notice process and contact before placing the first order.
  • Confirm remaining component availability and any last-order date before planning a final production order.
  • Review the successor platform against the approved model, including interfaces, drivers, imaging, compliance documents and spare-part compatibility.
  • Documentation, artwork and packaging elements that can carry over are identified deliberately, so you are not rebuilding collateral you already paid for.

Spare parts and after-sales

Spare parts are checked against the model, part number and hardware revision. They do not have to come from the same production run, but compatibility and availability must be confirmed before supply. Discuss any spare-parts purchase or reservation when the production order is planned.

  • WarrantyThe standard ODM/OEM laptop policy provides a 12-month limited warranty from shipment for confirmed manufacturing defects. Coverage, RMA authorization and return freight responsibilities are confirmed with the order.
  • Technical follow-upA named contact for the platform, and model-specific quality and compliance communication rather than generic claims.
  • Parts and accessoriesQuoted against the platform you actually hold, so the part number matches the revision.

Questions buyers ask us

  • Will the same configuration still be available next year?Availability depends on the model, components and order schedule. Ask us to confirm the expected supply window and any stock arrangements in writing; a 24-month supply guarantee does not apply to every model.
  • What is recorded in the approved configuration?Record the exact model, CPU and board/PCB revision, memory structure, storage type and interface, panel and touch capability, ports, BIOS baseline, system image, keyboard, battery, supplied power package, artwork and destination documents. Unknown or variable items must be resolved for the ordered build.
  • Can I change the memory or storage on a repeat order?Supported memory and storage options can be reviewed for a repeat order. Availability, compatibility, price and any imaging or sample validation must be confirmed before the revised specification is approved.
  • How much notice do I get before a model is discontinued? The notice process and any notice period must be agreed in writing for the selected programme. Ask for the current availability and any confirmed last-order date before scheduling a final order.
  • Can I buy spare parts after production ends?Spare-parts supply depends on remaining stock and compatible parts availability. Send the model, part number or photos, hardware revision and required quantity so compatibility and pricing can be checked. Any reservation must be agreed separately.
  • Does this apply to OEM and ODM projects too?Yes. OEM and ODM repeat orders are reviewed against the approved specification and any applicable sample. Confirm supply windows, branding, proposed substitutions and renewed validation for the selected programme. S18D is bulk-only with no evaluation samples; agree the written build and approval evidence before ordering.
  • Does a forecast reserve stock or components? No. A forecast supports planning. A stock, component or spare-parts reservation needs a separate written agreement covering the exact items, quantity, period and commercial terms.
  • What evidence should approve a changed build?Agree the revised specification and required photos, component records, sample or validation results before approval. Record which changes affect drivers, imaging, accessories, packaging or market documents. S18D has no evaluation samples, so its approval evidence must be agreed for the bulk order.

Where to go next

Five checks before approving a repeat batch

Use the previous approved specification as a comparison reference. Record each proposed change and agree its effect on price, documentation, validation and timing before the repeat order is approved.

CheckRecord before approval
1. Hardware buildModel, board revision, CPU, memory structure, storage medium and interface, panel, touch capability, ports, battery and supplied power package
2. Firmware and softwareBIOS baseline, settings, drivers, system image and required compatibility checks
3. Branding and packagingApproved artwork revision, keyboard, labels, packaging dimensions and accessories
4. Market documentsDestination and exact build; whether battery, component or model changes require renewed document review
5. Commercial approvalQuantity, current price, available supply window, written change approval, validation evidence and dispatch schedule

S18D is bulk-only with no evaluation samples. Battery details can vary by order, and its adapter, charging power, cable and plug must be confirmed for the ordered build. Evaluation of another model does not approve an S18D build.

Tell us the platform and the market.

Send the model, approved configuration, destination market, expected order quantities and reorder schedule. We will review current availability, the supply window, change-control needs and compatible spare-parts options.
