Samples
Use an evaluation unit to check the selected configuration and the features actually supplied. Agree its scope, cost, preparation schedule and acceptance checks before arranging a sample or releasing a production order.
Selected available configurations may be quoted from one unit for evaluation. Confirm the actual model, represented features, sample price, preparation and shipping scope before payment. S18D is currently bulk-only and has no evaluation samples; ask about an alternative model if a sample is essential. Any credit toward a later order must be written in the quotation.
Confirm the next step
Separate the model’s availability, the evaluation contents and the commercial terms. An approved stock unit does not validate custom features that it does not contain.
| Decision | Confirm before payment | Keep in the approval record |
|---|---|---|
| Model and version | Selected CPU, memory, storage medium/interface, display, battery and power package; available quantity. | The quoted configuration and the unit used for evaluation. S18D has no sample offer. |
| Custom features | Which keyboard method, logo, boot artwork, labels and packaging are included or require separate proofs. | Represented features and a list of items still awaiting approval. |
| Price and shipping | Device/sample charge, setup work, freight and any quoted import or delivery services; state inclusions and exclusions. | The itemised quotation. Sample credit is conditional on the written terms, not automatic. |
| Preparation and arrival | Preparation starts against the agreed payment, specification and artwork conditions. Transit and import clearance are separate stages. | The quoted preparation schedule, dispatch point and transport estimate. |
| Evaluation and release | Test actual applications, input, ports, charging and agreed branding. Request changes before production approval. | Test results, accepted differences, final specification and artwork revisions. |
P1’s current Core i3 reference is a conventional non-touch clamshell. J1 and R2 are convertible touch platforms; do not treat them as substitutes for each other without checking the intended workload and specification.
Sample scope · Delivery planning · Warranty and RMA
Not every question needs a built sample. What you are trying to find out decides which of the three routes is the right one.
Ask which exact configuration is available for evaluation. Check build quality, keyboard feel, display and your actual workload on that unit; it does not represent uninstalled options or another motherboard.
A sample with platform-supported changes, subject to feasibility review and the quoted sample scope. Confirm which hardware, keyboard, branding and packaging elements it represents before payment.
A first stocking batch is a commercial order with its own quantity, configuration and branding scope. MOQ, setup charges, availability and schedule are confirmed for the model; it is separate from a single evaluation unit.
If what you actually need is units rather than confirmation, stock configurations may dispatch from China in 2-3 business days after stock and order confirmation, and wholesale terms apply once a model proves itself.
| What it settles | What you check on the sample | Settled when |
|---|---|---|
| Build quality | Fit, finish, hinge, keyboard and display | Sample approval |
| Configuration | The exact memory, storage and screen combination | With the quotation |
| Keyboard language | Keycaps, legends and layout for your market | Specification freeze |
| Branding | Boot logo, device label, retail packaging and manual | Artwork approval |
| Documentation | The compliance set for your destination market | Alongside the quotation |
The sample is also the reference the quality process is tied to: inspection runs against the approved model, configuration, sample, target market and project quality plan, rather than against a generic checklist.
Sample price depends on the platform, configuration and requested changes. A customised unit may involve setup work that is spread across a larger batch in production. We confirm the charge and any agreed credit toward a later order in writing.
The model you are considering, the configuration you need, and the market the production units will go to.
Feasibility, sampling scope, cost and lead time returned together, so the sample represents a real order.
Preparation starts against the agreed scope and quoted schedule after the required payment, artwork and specification approvals. Transit and any import clearance are separate from preparation time.
Request changes if you need to, then sign off the frozen specification sheet that becomes the production reference.
The sample and approval stages are real calendar time. Every week saved by rushing them is usually a week of rework later. The wider programme is set out under OEM and ODM, and the shipping page covers what happens once the specification is frozen.
Preparation depends on the exact model, stock, requested changes and approvals and is quoted before payment. Selected standard China-stock configurations typically dispatch in 2-3 business days after stock, payment and order details are confirmed. This is not an arrival promise; transit and import clearance are additional.
Samples are charged at the quoted price. Any credit toward a later production order depends on the written quotation; it is not automatic.
No. Sample availability is confirmed for the exact model and configuration. S18D is currently bulk-only and has no evaluation samples. If evaluation is essential, ask us to check an alternative model. A different model’s sample does not approve the S18D specification or its unconfirmed power package.
Request changes before approving the production specification. Supported changes, charges, timing and any new sample or validation must be agreed in writing. After approval, a requested change requires review before production can follow the revised specification.
The approved sample remains the reference. Each reorder needs an availability and change review; a component, firmware or branding change may require a new sample or validation. The supply window is confirmed for the selected model and programme. See supply continuity.
Branding on a sample is subject to model support, process feasibility and the quoted scope. Confirm whether the sample includes the device logo, boot logo, labels, packaging or printed materials; some elements may need separate artwork or production proofs.
Available documentation is checked for the exact model, battery, destination and carrier alongside the quotation. Confirm which items are needed, available and included before dispatch. A sample shipment or document from another model does not automatically validate the final bulk configuration.
A stock unit can be used to evaluate the hardware configuration actually supplied, including build, display and performance. It does not validate a different configuration, keyboard method or branding that is absent from that unit.
Send the model, configuration, target market, delivery city and postcode, requested branding, expected bulk quantity and target date. We will check the sample scope, charges, preparation time and shipping route before quotation. If branding is part of the plan, the private label programme and the customisation options set out what can be applied. If you would rather evaluate from stock first, start with what is already available, and the sourcing guide covers how to judge a supplier before you pay a deposit.
