Small batch

Starting small: a first laptop order for a new store or brand

Most small buyers do not need a lecture about minimum order quantities. They need to know what to order this month, and what to put in writing so that the order after it is easier.

Selected available standard configurations may be quoted from one unit for evaluation. Stocking batch for a stocking batch and 1,000 units for a custom programme are planning references, subject to model, materials and branding review. S18D is bulk-only with no evaluation samples. Selected China-stock configurations typically dispatch in 2-3 business days after stock, payment and order details are confirmed. Branding preparation, production, transit and clearance follow separately confirmed schedules.

Three starting points, by what you actually need

The right entry point depends less on your budget than on what you already have. Demand you cannot serve, a market you have not tested, and a range you intend to keep are three different problems.

Selected stock

Cover a listing that is already selling

Selected China-stock configurations typically dispatch in 2-3 business days after stock, payment and order details are confirmed. Branding preparation, production, transit and clearance follow separately confirmed schedules. S18D has no evaluation samples.

Fastest way to stop losing sales
Batch by review

Your first stocking batch

Listing-ready stock with presentable retail packaging. About 100 units is workable subject to model and configuration review.

The usual first real order
Project quotation

Your own brand, at scale

Logo, device labels, keyboard language, packaging and boot artwork requests are reviewed separately for compatibility, minimum quantity, setup cost and approval.

MOQ and scope confirmed by quotation

If you have demand and no stock, what is already in stock is the fastest route, because a stock unit ships without artwork having to be approved first.

Reorder continuity depends on the platform lifecycle, component supply and the agreement for your programme. Ask us to confirm the available production window, change-notification process and last-order date before committing. The supply continuity page covers how it is held.

The first order is a project. The second order is the business

A distributor's risk is not the first order. The first order is a project, and it is the one you plan carefully. The second order is a business: you have stock in a market, listings that carry a specific specification, a support desk that knows one machine, and customers who expect to reorder. That is the order a small seller should be designing for, even while placing the first one.

  • Ask for the two dates in writing. The production window, and the last-order date by which your final production order has to be placed, so you can plan your own stock position instead of reacting to a notice.
  • Freeze the specification, not just the order. The expensive part is deciding and freezing the specification. Once that is done, a repeat order is a shorter version of the first order.
  • Reuse what you already paid for. Documentation, artwork and packaging elements that can carry over are identified deliberately, so you are not rebuilding collateral on every run.
  • Keep a repeatable configuration rather than chasing a single low price. That is the trade most small resellers get wrong, because the second order is where the margin actually lives.

Send your target quantity and essential changes for a model-specific feasibility review. A smaller batch does not automatically include branding or guarantee an available production slot. Review the cost page for setup charges and recurring costs.

A first order, sequenced

Start from stock

Confirm the exact model and available standard configuration for evaluation or replenishment. S18D is bulk-only and cannot be ordered as a single evaluation unit.

Decide whether your brand goes on it

Standard stock ships with presentable retail packaging. Branding moves the order towards the private label programme.

Commit to a stocking batch

Stocking batch is workable subject to review, and it is the size that tests the market rather than the product.

Lock the reorder before you need it

Ask for the production window and the last-order date in the quotation, so the commitment is on record from day one.

If branding is the plan, the private label programme sets out what can carry your logo, and the sample page covers how the specification gets frozen before a production run. The OEM and ODM programmes separate fast stock supply, branded channel programmes and specification-led projects so you can start at the right cost, quantity and timing.

Questions from small stores and new brands

  • I am a small store. Is 1,000 units the only option?

Selected available standard configurations may be quoted from one unit for evaluation. Around 100 units for a stocking batch and 1,000 units for a custom programme are planning references, subject to model, materials and branding review. S18D is bulk-only with no evaluation samples.

  • Can I sell laptops before I have my own brand on them?

Yes, and it is the lower-risk sequence. Stock ships with presentable retail packaging, so you can test the product and your listing before committing to artwork, packaging and a production run.

  • What is the smallest order that makes sense?

Start with the exact model and the purpose of the order. Selected available standard units may be quoted individually for evaluation; stocking-batch quantities depend on the model and project. S18D is bulk-only with no evaluation samples.

  • Will I be able to reorder the same machine later?

An identical reorder is subject to platform and component availability. Confirm the supply window and any change-approval arrangements in writing; an unchanged configuration is not guaranteed for every model. See supply continuity.

  • What should be in writing before my first order?

Record the exact configuration, quantity, branding and packaging scope, documents, price, payment terms, dispatch schedule and delivery basis. For repeat supply, also confirm the available supply window, change-approval process and any confirmed last-order date. A forecast does not reserve stock.

  • Do I rebuild my packaging and artwork on every reorder?

Approved artwork and packaging may be reused after checking that the model, dimensions, labels and destination requirements remain suitable. Confirm any revision, setup, reprinting or validation charges in the repeat-order quotation.

  • Can a small order carry my brand?

Branding depends on the model, quantity, materials and process. Logo, labels, keyboard, packaging and boot artwork can have separate minimums, setup charges and approval steps. A stocking batch does not automatically include these changes.

  • What if I cannot reach 1,000 units at all?

Send your target quantity, model, destination and essential changes. We will review available standard stock or a suitable batch route and quote what is feasible. S18D remains bulk-only with no evaluation samples.
