Convertible

Convertible laptops for touch-first, hybrid and field deployment

A 360-degree hinge is a specification decision, not a feature bullet. It changes what one device has to cover, who carries it, and what the keyboard and display have to survive in daily use.

Two platforms in our range are convertibles. J1 is a 16-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS touch convertible on an AMD Ryzen 3 3300U with 16GB and a 512GB SSD. R2 is a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS touch convertible with a 360-degree hinge on an Intel Core i3-10100Y with 16GB and a 256GB M.2 SSD configurable up to 2TB. Both are specified for deployment rather than retail shelf appeal, and both are supplied with model-level documentation for your destination market.

What a convertible laptop means in B2B supply

A convertible is a notebook whose display rotates through 360 degrees, so the same unit serves as a laptop, a tent, a stand and a tablet. In a procurement context the point is not novelty - it is that one line item covers two working modes, which simplifies the estate, the spares list and the support desk.

  • One device, two modes. Laptop use for writing and data entry, and tablet or tent use for presentation, inspection and shared viewing.
  • Touch is standard, not an accessory. Both platforms carry an IPS touch panel, so software and workflows need to assume touch input.
  • The hinge is the wear item. It is the part that a clamshell purchaser never has to think about, and the reason a convertible is assessed differently on a long deployment.
  • It suits mixed estates. Where some users need a standard notebook and others need a tablet, one convertible specification can cover both without a second SKU.

We hold platforms stable for 24 months so a reorder matches the original deployment, which matters more on a convertible programme because the hinge and panel are the parts a substitute build would change. See supply continuity.

What convertible buyers assess

The evaluation criteria differ from a standard notebook, and the differences are not about performance. These are the five points that decide whether a convertible programme holds up.

  • Panel and touch input. Resolution, IPS and whether the touch layer suits the software the users actually run, because a touch panel is only useful if the application assumes touch.
  • Hinge and structural service life. A 360-degree hinge is the part a clamshell buyer never has to consider. It is also the first thing a substitute build would change, which is why the platform is held stable for 24 months.
  • Carry pattern. A convertible is opened, rotated and handed around rather than parked on a desk, so the enclosure and panel face a different daily duty cycle.
  • Serviceability after deployment. Spare parts, warranty process and RMA handling agreed with your account rather than handled case by case.
  • Compliance documentation. Documentation available for this platform covers CE, RED, FCC, DoC, EAA, RoHS, UN38.3 and MSDS depending on model, confirmed against the exact product and your destination market during quotation. See compliance by market.

Adapt the convertible to your channel

A convertible is usually bought for one of three deployment patterns. Which one you are running decides the quantity, the branding scope and how much the spares list matters.

1:1

One device per user

Every user gets the same convertible specification, so a mixed estate of tablet and notebook needs collapses into one line item, one spares list and one support script.

Simplest estate to support
Shared

Shared or pooled deployment

Units are issued from a pool and rotate between users or sites. Touch and tent modes cover presentation and inspection without introducing a second device class.

The standard custom minimum

Branding scope is confirmed against the model and the quantity, so the private label programme is the place to start if the brand is the point.

Convertible procurement FAQ

  • What is a convertible laptop in B2B supply?

A notebook whose display rotates through 360 degrees, so one unit serves as a laptop, a tent, a stand and a tablet. It is specified for hybrid, field and touch-first deployment rather than for retail shelf appeal.

  • What is the minimum order quantity for a convertible order?

Stock MOQ is from one unit on in-stock configurations, dispatched in 2-3 business days. The standard custom minimum is 1,000 units per model, and about 100 units is workable as a first stocking batch subject to model and configuration review. See how small a first order can be.

  • Which of the two platforms should we choose?

J1 if you want the larger touch panel and an AMD platform: 16-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS touch, AMD Ryzen 3 3300U, 16GB and a 512GB SSD. R2 if you want a 15.6-inch convertible on Intel with a configurable drive: Intel Core i3-10100Y, 16GB and a 256GB M.2 SSD expandable to 2TB.

  • Do convertible platforms cost more than a clamshell?

We quote per requirement rather than from a list, because two orders of the same size can differ in platform, memory, storage and documentation. What we will do is set out the specification difference between a convertible and a clamshell on the same platform, so your comparison is like for like. See where the cost goes.

  • Can these platforms carry our own brand?

Yes. Boot logo and splash screen, device label and serial number, keyboard language, retail packaging, inserts, manual and outer carton markings can all carry your brand. Artwork has to be approved before production can be scheduled.

  • Which compliance documents come with these platforms?

Documentation available for this platform covers CE, RED, FCC, DoC, EAA, RoHS, UN38.3 and MSDS depending on model. The applicable set is confirmed against the exact product and your destination market during quotation, not assumed from the model name.

  • What warranty applies to a convertible order?

A 12-month limited warranty from the shipment date applies to ODM/OEM laptop products, with spare parts supply and online technical support. Final coverage follows the confirmed order terms, the signed commercial documents and the agreed after-sales process. See warranty and RMA.

The full platform range

J1 and R2 are the convertibles. If a standard clamshell, a large screen or a volume education build fits better, those platforms are on the same commercial terms, and the business, education and large-screen pages compare them for their own use cases.
